When you are planning your visit to Toronto, be sure to include a day trip to the city of Niagara Falls. Approximately 90 minutes from Toronto and home to the majestic Niagara Falls, this thriving tourist hotspot attracts thrill-seekers and romantics alike. Take in the captivating falls from above, or get up close to this natural wonder on the deck of the Maid of the Mist. This unforgettable boat ride takes you to the bottom of the churning 13-storey falls. With rain gear to protect you from the spray, experience a ride no water park can match!

The local dining scene is almost as marvellous as the falls themselves. Appetizing dishes await at your choice of restaurants – from elegant international cuisine, family-style dinner to casual pubs and patios. Add a splash of local flair with a superb bottle of wine from one of the many Niagara vineyards.

As the sun sets and takes daylight with it, a fluorescent halo engulfs the sky around Niagara and signals the start of night. You’ll find yourself in the middle of the excitement as pulsating sounds spill out onto the street from the various nightclubs, creating a vibrant and exciting rhythm for your evening’s entertainment. Comedy clubs fill with patrons looking for a laugh (or many) and first-class live shows take the stage at the city’s two casinos.

Moreover, the beauty of the country side beckons, and those who answer the call will be pleasantly rewarded. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a tourist favourite, rich in culture, history, theatre and gastronomic delights. Renowned for being home to over 50 wineries in its picturesque landscape, this lovely town is approximately 20 minutes outside of Niagara Falls. With large estate and boutique wineries so close together, you’ll have the opportunity to sample a range of excellent reserves, new releases and rare vintages. Many wineries have on-site restaurants where you can pair their great wines with superb dishes.
After spending time swirling, sniffing and tasting world-renowned wines, enjoy a round of golf, schedule a relaxing spa session or discover the history of the town with a calm evening stroll along tree-lined streets. A walk along the Escarpment trail entices many, as does the brilliant collection of Canadian antiquities at the Niagara Historical Museum. Learn about the War of 1812 at historic Fort George and enjoy a visit to the many unique stores and galleries that line the main street. Niagara-on-the-Lake is also home to the celebrated Shaw Festival one of the world’s finest repertory theatre companies, with three theatres staging plays by George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries, and plays about the period of Shaw’s lifetime.

To visit Black Creek Pioneer Village is to journey back in time to discover life in early Ontario. The Village is an example of a typical crossroads community found in the Toronto area during the 1800's. As a living history museum, the Village offers one of the richest heritage experiences in the Toronto area. Black Creek Pioneer Village is more than a collection of buildings and artifacts. Here, you will become immersed in the lifestyles, customs, and surroundings of early residents who built the foundations for modern Toronto and Ontario. Spanning more than 30 acres of pristine country landscapes, the Village is a living history experience featuring heritage buildings originating in communities across south central Ontario that have been faithfully furnished with original furniture and artifacts.

In the buildings, and surrounding gardens and farmyards you will find historical interpreters and trades people in authentic period dress who will demonstrate and explain for you how people lived, worked and played in mid 19th century rural Ontario. Some places describe the past. Black Creek Pioneer Village brings it to life. Over the past 150 years, most families have moved away from the land and into cities, leaving behind a way of life that defined early Ontario.

But four decades ago, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority created a small agricultural community at Toronto’s northern edge that honours the ways of our early settlers. Today, Black Creek Pioneer Village offers you a fascinating journey into the past – into the way people lived before cars, digital technology and the dominance of urban culture separated them from the land.

Black Creek is a working village, typical of those established in south central Ontario between the 1790s and the 1860s. At Black Creek you are invited to escape the modern world, and experience Ontario’s rich rural heritage.
