Niagara Falls, Canada is a destination unlike any other. From the top of Skylon Tower (775 feet up) to the base of Horseshoe Falls (188 feet down), Niagara Falls is an awe-inspiring Ontario Canada vacation destination. The Falls give off a round-the-clock roar, a refreshing - and surprisingly far-reaching - mist, and a reminder of just how wondrous our natural world is.

From the marvel of gazing at the Falls from innumerable look-out points to adrenaline-fueled activities like whitewater jet boats, there are many ways to experience them, including an array of Niagara Falls attractions for all ages.

For those that long to get up close to the Falls, don your famous blue slicker and jump aboard the Maid of the Mist to go right up to the base of Niagara Falls, walk behind them at Journey Behind the Falls, or fly over them on a helicopter ride. And that's just the beginning.

Even at night the Falls are impressive. The nightly illumination means you can enjoy them anywhere you have a Falls view - from your Niagara hotel, restaurant, cocktail lounge or observation deck. Every Friday-Sunday during the summer months and on special occasions, Falls Fireworks add a little extra colour to the display.

Check out the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory and don't forget to wear bright clothes to attract a winged friend! Plan on making a day of it…bring a picnic and spend a wonderful day on the grounds…which is also home to the Niagara School of Horticulture and offers acres of floral wonders.

Within a short drive of the falls, enter the world-class lush vineyards of the Niagara region where taste testing is an art and ice wine is a gift from the gods.

History buffs can spend hours reliving past battles at Fort George and Fort Erie or just remembering the life of Laura Secord, beloved heroine of the War of 1812. Theatre-goers will revel in the fabulous world class Shaw Festival.

Take a drive along the Niagara Parkway, which Winston Churchill once described as the “Prettiest Sunday Drive Anywhere” and marvel at the gardens, fruit markets and the quaint specialty shops in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Watch ships climb a mountain! Ships of many shapes and sizes wind their way through the locks of the Welland Canal en route from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. There are many viewing platforms where you can view this astounding feat along the route including Lock Three, which also houses a museum.

The original capital of Upper Canada (now Ontario), this historic town boasts a serene waterfront setting, old world charm, tender fruit orchards, award-winning wineries, exclusive boutiques, the Shaw Festival Theatre, fine dining, country inns and bed and breakfasts. Niagara on the Lake is a popular tourist destination, one that should not be missed during a visit to Niagara.

Take a stroll along the Niagara River Recreational Trail, which offers visitors beautiful views of the Niagara River and the coast of New York State across the narrow waterway.

Niagara on the Lake is a major tender fruit growing area in Canada and produces such delicacies as peaches, pears, plums and cherries. Stop by one of the many roadside stands which line the country routes around Niagara on the Lake to buy some fruit or pick your own at one of the local farms.
